Sepro Scrubbers have a modular drive system, a dedicated motor, coupling and gearbox for each pair of driving wheels. All driving support wheels are individually mounted for ease of fitting and removal. Other manufacturers offer continuous inline drive shafts with multiple wheels, which result in several hours downtime to change one wheel compared with a few minutes for Sepro machines. Sepro machines above 1.8 diameter have integral jacking cradles and moveable hydraulic jacks, which enable the shell to be easily lifted off the tyres for maintenance on wheels, tyres, drives, etc; when required.
Fixed speed scrubbers can be staggered-started with a short delay between energising individual motors in order to minimise total motor inrush current. This is a significant advantage on plants with limited power supplies or tight maximum demand constraints.
